Holy Quran Part Wama obarrio with English translation by Dr Tahir ul Qadri

* Here reference is made to the real father of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) Tarakh who was neither a disbeliever nor a polytheist. He was rather a believer in the true Din (Religion). Azar was in fact Ibrahim’s uncle who brought him up after his father’s demise and was called his father figuratively. He was a polytheist, and Ibrahim (Abraham) was forbidden to pray for his forgiveness. In this Verse the prayer is meant for his real parents. Allah liked this prayer so much that it has been prescribed for the Umma (Community) to supplicate with it in all of the ritual Prayers.

41. O my Lord! Forgive me and (forgive) my parents* and all the believers as well on the Day when reckoning (and accountability) will be held.’

41. Rabbana ighfir lee waliwalidayya walilmumineena yawma yaqoomu alhisabu

41. Vår Herre! Tilgi Du meg, og (tilgi) mine foreldre* og alle troende den dagen oppgjøret skal stå.»

* Her ber profeten Abraham عليه السلام for sin biologiske far Tarah. Han var ingen flergudsdyrker eller vantro person; derimot hadde han den sanne troen. Azar var profeten Abrahams عليه السلام onkel, som oppdro ham etter farens død. Av respekt ble Azar kalt for far av profeten Abraham عليه السلام Azar var flergudsdyrker, og profeten Abraham عليه السلام ble forbudt å be om tilgivelse for onkelen Azar. I dette verset ber profeten Abraham عليه السلام for sine foreldre, og Allah foretrakk den skuddbønnen så til de grader at den er blitt en del av tidebønnen til alle muslimer.

ऐ हमारे रब! मुझे बख़्श दे और मेरे वालिदैन को (बख़्श दे) * और दीगर सब मोमिनों को भी, जिस दिन हिसाब क़ाइम होगा।

* (यहां हज़रत इब्राहीम अ़लैहिस्सलाम के हक़ीक़ी वालिद तारिख़ की तरफ इशारा है, ये काफिरो मुश्रिक न थे बल्कि दीने हक़्क़ पर थे, आज़र दर अस्ल आपका चचा था, उसने आप अ़लैहिस्सलाम को आप अ़लैहिस्सलाम के वालिद की वफात के बाद पाला था, इसलिए उसे उरफन बाप कहा गया है, वोह मुश्रिक था और आपको उसके लिए दुआए मग़्फिरत से रोक दिया गया था जबकि यहां हक़ीक़ी वालिदैन के लिए दुआए मग़्फिरत की जा रही है। ये दुआ अल्लाह तआला को इस क़दर पसन्द आई कि उसे उम्मते मुहम्मदी सल्लल्लाहु अ़लैहि व सल्लम की नमाज़ों में भी बरक़रार रख दिया गया।)

৪১. হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! ক্ষমা করে দাও আমাকে এবং (ক্ষমা করে দাও) আমার পিতা-মাতাকে* এবং সমস্ত মুমিনকে, যেদিন হিসাব কায়েম হবে।’

*(এখানে হযরত ইবরাহীম আলাইহিস সালামের প্রকৃত পিতা তারাখের দিকে ইংগিত করা হয়েছে। তিনি কাফের ও মুশরিক ছিলেন না, বরং সত্য দ্বীনের উপর ছিলেন। আযর প্রকৃতপক্ষে ছিলেন তাঁর চাচা। সে তাঁকে (অর্থাৎ ইবরাহীম আলাইহিস সালামকে) তাঁর পিতার ইন্তেকালের পর লালন-পালন করেছিল। এ জন্যে তাকে প্রথা অনুযায়ী পিতা বলা হয়েছে এবং সে ছিল মুশরিক। আর তাঁকে এ জন্যে মাগফিরাতের দু’আ করা থেকে বাধা দেয়া হয়েছিল। আর এখানে তাঁর প্রকৃত পিতা-মাতার জন্যে মাগফিরাতের দু’আ করা হচ্ছে। এ দু’আ আল্লাহ্‌র এ পরিমাণ পছন্দ হয়েছিল যে, একে মুহাম্মদ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া আলিহী ওয়াসাল্লাম)-এঁর নামাযের মধ্যেও বহাল রাখা হয়েছে।

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَ لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ اللّٰہَ غَافِلًا عَمَّا یَعۡمَلُ الظّٰلِمُوۡنَ ۬ؕ اِنَّمَا یُؤَخِّرُہُمۡ لِیَوۡمٍ تَشۡخَصُ فِیۡہِ الۡاَبۡصَارُ ﴿ۙ۴۲﴾

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَـٰفِلاً عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ‌ۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ ٤٢

42. اور اللہ کو ان کاموں سے ہرگز بے خبر نہ سمجھنا جو ظالم انجام دے رہے ہیں، بس وہ تو ان (ظالموں) کو فقط اس دن کے لئے مہلت دے رہا ہے جس میں (خوف کے مارے) آنکھیں پھٹی رہ جائیں گیo

42. And do not think Allah to be unaware of what the wrongdoers are doing. He is only delaying them for a Day when (their) eyes will stare (in horror),

42. And never think of Allah to be unaware of the works the wrongdoers are doing. He is only giving them (the wrongdoers) respite till the Day on which the eyes will be stare-fixed (in horror).

42. Wala tahsabanna Allaha ghafilan AAamma yaAAmalu alththalimoona innama yuakhkhiruhum liyawmin tashkhasu feehi alabsaru

42. Og ha aldri i tankene at Allah er uoppmerksom på det de ondsinnede bedriver. Han gir dem (de ondsinnede) frist kun til den dag da øynene vil bli vidåpne (av frykt).

42. और अल्लाह को उन कामों से हर्गिज़़ बेख़बर न समझना जो ज़ालिम अंजाम दे रहे हैं, बस वोह तो उन (ज़ालिमों) को फक़त उस दिन के लिए मोहलत दे रहा है जिसमें (ख़ौफ के मारे) आंखें फटी रह जाएंगी।

৪২. আর আল্লাহ্কে সেসব কাজ থেকে অনবহিত মনে করো না, যা যালিমেরা করছে। তিনি তো এদেরকে (এ যালিমদেরকে) কেবল সেদিন পর্যন্ত অবকাশ দিচ্ছেন, যেদিন (ভীতির কারণে) চক্ষুসমূহ স্থির থাকবে।

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

مُہۡطِعِیۡنَ مُقۡنِعِیۡ رُءُوۡسِہِمۡ لَا یَرۡتَدُّ اِلَیۡہِمۡ طَرۡفُہُمۡ ۚ وَ اَفۡـِٕدَتُہُمۡ ہَوَآءٌ ﴿ؕ۴۳﴾

مُهْطِعِينَ مُقْنِعِى رُءُوسِهِمْ لَا يَرْتَدُّ إِلَيْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْ‌ۖ وَأَفْــِٔدَتُهُمْ هَوَآءٌ ٤٣

43. وہ لوگ (میدانِ حشر کی طرف) اپنے سر اوپر اٹھائے دوڑتے جا رہے ہوں گے اس حال میں کہ ان کی پلکیں بھی نہ جھپکتی ہوں گی اور ان کے دل سکت سے خالی ہو رہے ہوں گےo

43. running forward with their heads upraised (and necks outstretched). Their glance will not return to them, and their hearts will be vacant (having been drained of strength and hope).

43. Their heads lifted up, they will be running (towards the Field of Grand Assembly), with eyes unable to twinkle and with hearts being drained of strength.

43. MuhtiAAeena muqniAAee ruoosihim la yartaddu ilayhim tarfuhum waafidatuhum hawaon

43. Med hodet reist opp vil de springe (mot regnskapets innsamlingsslette), med øyne som ikke kan klare å blunke, og med hjerte som tømmes for styrke.

43. वोह लोग (मैदाने हश्र की तरफ) अपने सर ऊपर उठाए दौड़ते जा रहे होंगे इस हाल में कि उनकी पलकें भी न झपकती होंगी और उनके दिल सकत से खाली हो रहे होंगे।

৪৩. তারা (হাশরের ময়দানের দিকে) তাদের মাথা উঠানো অবস্থায় দৌঁড়াতে থাকবে, তাদের চোখের পলকও পড়বে না এবং তাদের অন্তর হবে শক্তিশূন্য।

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَ اَنۡذِرِ النَّاسَ یَوۡمَ یَاۡتِیۡہِمُ الۡعَذَابُ فَیَقُوۡلُ الَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا رَبَّنَاۤ اَخِّرۡنَاۤ اِلٰۤی اَجَلٍ قَرِیۡبٍ ۙ نُّجِبۡ دَعۡوَتَکَ وَ نَتَّبِعِ الرُّسُلَ ؕ اَوَ لَمۡ تَکُوۡنُوۡۤا اَقۡسَمۡتُمۡ مِّنۡ قَبۡلُ مَا لَکُمۡ مِّنۡ زَوَالٍ ﴿ۙ۴۴﴾

وَأَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ فَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَخِّرْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ نُّجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ ٱلرُّسُلَ‌ۗ أَوَلَمْ تَكُونُوٓاْ أَقْسَمْتُم مِّن قَبْلُ مَا لَكُم مِّن زَوَالٍ ٤٤

44. اور آپ لوگوں کو اس دن سے ڈرائیں جب ان پر عذاب آپہنچے گا تو وہ لوگ جو ظلم کرتے رہے ہوں گے کہیں گے: اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں تھوڑی دیر کے لئے مہلت دے دے کہ ہم تیری دعوت کو قبول کر لیں اور رسولوں کی پیروی کر لیں۔ (ان سے کہا جائے گا) کہ کیا تم ہی لوگ پہلے قسمیں نہیں کھاتے رہے کہ تمہیں کبھی زوال نہیں آئے گاo

44. And warn the people of the Day when the punishment shall overtake them, then the wrongdoers will say: ‘Our Lord, grant us respite for a little while. We will respond to Your call and follow the messengers.’ (They will be told:) ‘Did you not use to swear before that there would be no end for you (in the worldly life)?’

44. And warn the people of the Day when the torment will come upon them. Those who did injustice will say: ‘O our Lord, grant us respite for a while so that we may accept Your message and follow the Messengers.’ (It will be said to them:) ‘Are you not those who used to swear before that you would never fall?’

44. Waanthiri alnnasa yawma yateehimu alAAathabu fayaqoolu allatheena thalamoo rabbana akhkhirna ila ajalin qareebin nujib daAAwataka wanattabiAAi alrrusula awalam takoonoo aqsamtum min qablu ma lakum min zawalin

44. Og advar menneskene mot den dag da pinen vil komme over dem. De som handlet ondt, vil si: «Vår Herre, gi oss nådefrist en liten stund til, slik at vi kan godta invitasjonen Din og etterleve sendebudene!» (Det vil bli sagt til dem:) «Er ikke dere de som før dette pleide å sverge på at dere aldri ville falle?

44. और आप लोगों को उस दिन से डराएं जब उन पर अ़ज़ाब आ पहुंचेगा तो वोह लोग जो ज़ुल्म करते रहे होंगे कहेंगे: ऐ हमारे रब! हमें थोड़ी देर के लिए मोहलत दे दे कि हम तेरी दावत को क़बूल कर लें और रसूलों की पैरवी कर लें। (उनसे कहा जाएगा) कि क्या तुम ही लोग पहले क़स्में नहीं खाते रहे कि तुम्हें कभी ज़वाल नहीं आएगा।

৪৪. আর আপনি মানুষকে সেদিনের ব্যাপারে সতর্ক করুন, যেদিন তাদের উপর শাস্তি নেমে আসবে; তখন অত্যাচারিরা বলবে, ‘হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! আমাদেরকে সামান্য সময়ের জন্যে অবকাশ দাও যাতে আমরা তোমার আহ্বানে সাড়া দিতে পারি এবং রাসূলগণের অনুসরণ করতে পারি।’ (তাদেরকে বলা হবে) ‘তোমরাই কি পূর্বে কসম করেছিলে না যে, তোমাদের কখনোই পতন হবে না’?

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَّ سَکَنۡتُمۡ فِیۡ مَسٰکِنِ الَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَہُمۡ وَ تَبَیَّنَ لَکُمۡ کَیۡفَ فَعَلۡنَا بِہِمۡ وَ ضَرَبۡنَا لَکُمُ الۡاَمۡثَالَ ﴿۴۵﴾

وَسَكَنتُمْ فِى مَسَـٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ وَضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُ ٱلْأَمْثَالَ ٤٥

45. اور تم (اپنی باری پر) انہی لوگوں کے (چھوڑے ہوئے) محلات میں رہتے تھے (جنہوں نے اپنے اپنے دور میں) اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کیا تھا حالانکہ تم پر عیاں ہو چکا تھا کہ ہم نے ان کے ساتھ کیا معاملہ کیا تھا اور ہم نے تمہارے (فہم کے) لئے مثالیں بھی بیان کی تھیںo

45. You settled in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves (before). And it was made clear to you how We had dealt with them, and We have (also) cited examples for you.

45. And (in your own turn) you were dwelling in the palaces (vacated by) those who had wronged their souls (during their respective eras), whereas this had dawned on you how We had dealt with them, and We also elucidated examples for your (easy comprehension).

45. Wasakantum fee masakini allatheena thalamoo anfusahum watabayyana lakum kayfa faAAalna bihim wadarabna lakumu alamthala

45. Og bodde i palassene til (etterlatt av) dem som hadde gjort sin egen sjel ondt (i løpet av sine leveperioder), enda det var blitt klargjort for dere hvordan Vi tok Oss av dem, og Vi klargjorde lignelser for dere (deres fatteevne).»

45. और तुम (अपनी बारी पर) उन ही लोगों के (छोड़े हुए) महल्लात में रहते थे (जिन्होंने अपने अपने दौर में) अपनी जानों पर जु़ल्म किया था हालांकि तुम पर अ़यां हो चुका था कि हमने उनके साथ क्या मुआमला किया था और हमने तुम्हारे (फहम के) लिए मिसालें भी बयान की थीं।

৪৫. আর তোমরা (তোমাদের সময়ে) সেসব লোকদের (ছেড়ে যাওয়া) প্রাসাদে বসবাস করতে (যারা তাদের নিজ নিজ যুগে) নিজেদের আত্মার উপর যুলুম করেছিল। অথচ তোমাদের নিকট স্পষ্ট হয়ে গিয়েছিল যে, আমরা তাদের সাথে কী আচরণ করেছিলাম। আর আমরা তোমাদের (উপলব্ধির) জন্যে দৃষ্টান্তও বর্ণনা করেছিলাম।

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَ قَدۡ مَکَرُوۡا مَکۡرَہُمۡ وَ عِنۡدَ اللّٰہِ مَکۡرُہُمۡ ؕ وَ اِنۡ کَانَ مَکۡرُہُمۡ لِتَزُوۡلَ مِنۡہُ الۡجِبَالُ ﴿۴۶﴾

وَقَدْ مَكَرُواْ مَكْرَهُمْ وَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ مَكْرُهُمْ وَإِن كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ ٱلْجِبَالُ ٤٦

46. اور انہوں نے (دولت و اقتدار کے نشہ میں بدمست ہو کر) اپنی طرف سے بڑی فریب کاریاں کیں جبکہ اللہ کے پاس ان کے ہر فریب کا توڑ تھا، اگرچہ ان کی مکّارانہ تدبیریں ایسی تھیں کہ ان سے پہاڑ بھی اکھڑ جائیںo

46. Indeed, they devised their schemes, but (the undoing of) their schemes lies with Allah, even if their schemes were such to dislodge the mountains.

46. And (having lost their balance, intoxicated by wealth and power,) they hatched many plots, whilst Allah had the countermeasures to foil all their plots, although their deceitful strategies were sufficient even to uproot the mountains.

46. Waqad makaroo makrahum waAAinda Allahi makruhum wain kana makruhum litazoola minhu aljibalu

46. Og de smidde sine mange renker (beruset av makt og velstand), men Allah hadde mottiltak for å avverge alle renkene deres, selv om sammensvergelsene deres var slike som kunne rykke opp fjellene med roten.

46. और उन्होंने (दौलतो इक़्तिदार केनशे में बद मस्त होकर) अपनी तरफ से बड़ी फरेब कारियां कीं जब कि अल्लाह के पास उनके हर फरेब का तोड़ था, अगर्चे उनकी मक्काराना तद्‌बीरें ऐसी थीं कि उनसे पहाड़ भी उखड़ जाएं।

৪৬. আর তারা (সম্পদ ও ক্ষমতার নেশায় মত্ত হয়ে) নিজেদের সাধ্যমত ভীষণ চক্রান্ত করেছিল, যখন আল্লাহ্‌র নিকট তাদের সকল চক্রান্ত বিনাশ হয়েছিল; যদিও তাদের চক্রান্তমূলক কৌশল এমন ছিল যে, এর মাধ্যমে পাহাড়ও উপড়ে যায়।

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ اللّٰہَ مُخۡلِفَ وَعۡدِہٖ رُسُلَہٗ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ عَزِیۡزٌ ذُو انۡتِقَامٍ ﴿ؕ۴۷﴾

فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِفَ وَعْدِهِۦ رُسُلَهُۥٓ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ ٤٧

47. سو اللہ کو ہرگز اپنے رسولوں سے وعدہ خلافی کرنے والا نہ سمجھنا! بیشک اللہ غالب، بدلہ لینے والا ہےo

47. Therefore, do not think Allah would fail to keep His promise to His messengers. Indeed, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Capable of Retribution.

47. So never think that Allah will break His promise with His Messengers. Indeed, Allah is Almighty, the Lord of Retribution.

47. Fala tahsabanna Allaha mukhlifa waAAdihi rusulahu inna Allaha AAazeezun thoo intiqamin

47. Ha aldri i tankene at Allah noen gang vil svike løftet Sitt til sendebudene Sine. Sannelig, Allah er allmektig, Herren av gjengjeld.

47. सो अल्लाह को हर्गिज़ अपने रसूलों से वादा ख़िलाफी करने वाला न समझना! बेशक अल्लाह ग़ालिब, बदला लेने वाला है।

৪৭. সুতরাং আল্লাহ্কে কখনো স্বীয় রাসূলগণের সাথে অঙ্গীকার ভঙ্গকারী মনে করো না! নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ্ আধিপত্যশীল, প্রতিশোধগ্রহণকারী।

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

یَوۡمَ تُبَدَّلُ الۡاَرۡضُ غَیۡرَ الۡاَرۡضِ وَ السَّمٰوٰتُ وَ بَرَزُوۡا لِلّٰہِ الۡوَاحِدِ الۡقَہَّارِ ﴿۴۸﴾

يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ ٱلْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتُ‌ۖ وَبَرَزُواْ لِلَّهِ ٱلْوَٲحِدِ ٱلْقَهَّارِ ٤٨

48. جس دن (یہ) زمین دوسری زمین سے بدل دی جائے گی اور جملہ آسمان بھی بدل دیئے جائیں گے اور سب لوگ اللہ کے رُوبرو حاضر ہوں گے جو ایک ہے سب پر غالب ہےo

48. (It will be) on the Day when the earth will be transformed into a different earth and the heavens (as well). And all will appear before Allah, the One, the Supreme.

48. The Day when (this) earth will be changed into a different earth and all the heavens will also be changed and the entire mankind will appear before Allah, the One, (and) the Dominant over all;

48. Yawma tubaddalu alardu ghayra alardi waalssamawatu wabarazoo lillahi alwahidi alqahhari

48. Den dagen da (denne) jorden vil bli ombyttet til en annen jord og alle himlene også vil bli ombyttet og alle skapningene vil framtre for Allah, den Ene, den Enerådende,

48. जिस दिन (ये) ज़मीन दूसरी ज़मीन से बदल दी जाएगी और जुम्ला आस्मान भी बदल दिए जाएंगे और सब लोग अल्लाह के रुबरू हाज़िर होंगे जो एक है सब पर ग़ालिब है।

৪৮. যেদিন (এ) জমিন পরিবর্তিত হয়ে ভিন্ন জমিন হবে এবং সমস্ত আকাশমন্ডলীও পরিবর্তিত হবে এবং সমস্ত মানুষ সবার উপর আধিপত্যশীল একক আল্লাহ্‌র সম্মুখে হাযির হবে।

51. تاکہ اللہ ہر شخص کو ان (اَعمال) کابدلہ دے دے جو اس نے کما رکھے ہیں۔ بیشک اللہ حساب میں جلدی فرمانے والا ہےo

51. (All will be judged,) so that Allah may recompense every soul for what it has earned. Indeed, Allah is Swift in Reckoning.

51. So that Allah requites every soul for (the deeds) it has earned. Indeed, Allah is Swift in Reckoning.

51. Liyajziya Allahu kulla nafsin ma kasabat inna Allaha sareeAAu alhisabi

51. slik at Allah kan lønne enhver person for det han har gjort seg fortjent til. Sannelig, Allah er snar med avregningen.

51. ताकि अल्लाह हर शख़्स को उन (आमाल) का बदला दे दे जो उसने कमा रखे हैं। बेशक अल्लाह हिसाब में जल्दी फरमाने वाला है।

,৫১. যাতে আল্লাহ্ প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তিকে (কৃতকর্মের) বিনিময় দেবেন যা তারা অর্জন করেছে।

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

ہٰذَا بَلٰغٌ لِّلنَّاسِ وَ لِیُنۡذَرُوۡا بِہٖ وَ لِیَعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّمَا ہُوَ اِلٰہٌ وَّاحِدٌ وَّ لِیَذَّکَّرَ اُولُوا الۡاَلۡبَابِ ﴿٪۵۲﴾

هَـٰذَا بَلَـٰغٌ لِّلنَّاسِ وَلِيُنذَرُواْ بِهِۦ وَلِيَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٲحِدٌ وَلِيَذَّكَّرَ أُوْلُواْ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ ٥٢

52. یہ (قرآن) لوگوں کے لئے کاملاً پیغام کا پہنچا دینا ہے، تاکہ انہیں اس کے ذریعہ ڈرایا جائے اور یہ کہ وہ خوب جان لیں کہ بس وہی (اللہ) معبودِ یکتا ہے اور یہ کہ دانش مند لوگ نصیحت حاصل کریںo

52. This (Qur’an) is a proclamation for humankind so that they may be warned by it and know that He is indeed the One God, and that the possessors of intellect may accept admonition.

52. This (Qur’an) is perfect communication of the Message to mankind so that by means of this they may be warned, and that they may conscientiously bear in mind that He (Allah) is One God, and that those who possess wisdom may take advice.

52. Hatha balaghun lilnnasi waliyuntharoo bihi waliyaAAlamoo annama huwa ilahun wahidun waliyaththakkara oloo alalbabi

52. Denne (Koranen) er en fullkommen videreformidling av budskapet for menneskeheten, for at de skal bli advart ved den, og for at de virkelig skal vite at Han (Allah) alene er den tilbedelsesverdige Herren, og for at formaningen skal bli godtatt av de visdomsrike.

52. ये (क़ुरआन) लोगों के लिए कामिलन पैग़ाम का पहुंचा देना है, ताकि उन्हें उसके ज़रीए डराया जाए और ये कि वोह ख़ूब जान लें कि बस वोही (अल्लाह) माबूदे यक्ता है और ये कि दानिशमंद लोग नसीहत हासिल करें।

৫২. এ (কুরআন) মানুষের জন্যে পরিপূর্ণ বার্তা, যাতে তাদেরকে এর দ্বারা সতর্ক করা হয় এবং যাতে তারা ভালোভাবে জানতে পারে যে, সে সত্তা (আল্লাহ্)-ই একক উপাস্য; আর যাতে জ্ঞানী লোকেরাই উপদেশ গ্রহণ করে।

الٓرٰ ۟ تِلۡکَ اٰیٰتُ الۡکِتٰبِ وَ قُرۡاٰنٍ مُّبِیۡنٍ ﴿۱﴾

الٓر‌ۚ تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ١

1. الف، لام، را (حقیقی معنی اللہ اور رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہی بہتر جانتے ہیں)، یہ (برگزیدہ) کتاب اور روشن قرآن کی آیتیں ہیںo

1. Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the Verses of the Book and a Manifest Qur’an.

1. Alif, Lam, Ra. (Only Allah and the Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him] know the real meaning.) These are the Verses of the (Glorious) Book and the Enlightening Qur’an.

1. Aliflamra tilka ayatu alkitabi waquranin mubeenin

1. Alif, Lām, Rā (kun Allah og Sendebudet ﷺ kjenner til den sanne betydningen). Dette er (den ærerike) skriftens og den opplysende Koranens vers.

1. अलिफ लाम रा (हक़ीक़ी मअ़ना अल्लाह और रसूल सल्लल्लाहु अ़लैहि व सल्लम ही बेहतर जानते हैं), ये (बर्गुज़ीदा) किताब और रौशन क़ुरआन की आयतें हैं।

১. আলিফ-লাম-রা। (প্রকৃত অর্থ আল্লাহ এবং রাসূল সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া আলিহী ওয়াসাল্লামই অধিক অবগত।) এগুলো (মনোনীত) কিতাব এবং আলোকোজ্জ্বল কুরআনের আয়াতসমূহ।

وَمَا أُبَرِّىءُ

Part Wama obarrio

Yusuf

53. And I do not absolve myself, for the (lower) self strongly commands to evil, except to whom my Lord shows mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Most-Forgiving, All-Merciful.’

53. And I do not (claim) absolution of my self. Certainly, the self commands much evil except the one on whom my Lord bestows mercy. Surely, my Lord is All-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.’

53. Wama obarrio nafsee inna alnnafsa laammaratun bialssooi illa ma rahima rabbee inna rabbee ghafoorun raheemun

53. Og jeg hevder ikke at mitt indre er skyldfritt! Sannelig, det indre (eget jeg) befaler svært ofte det onde, unntatt den som Herren min viser nåde. Sannelig, Herren min er mest tilgivende, evig nåderik.»

54. And the king said: ‘Bring him to me. I will select him exclusively for myself.’ Then, once he had spoken to him, he said: ‘Indeed, from this day on, you will have a high position of honour and trust with us.’

54. Waqala almaliku itoonee bihi astakhlishu linafsee falamma kallamahu qala innaka alyawma ladayna makeenun ameenun

54. Og kongen (faraoen) sa: «Bring ham til meg, så jeg kan utnevne ham spesielt som min (rådgiver).» Da kongen (faraoen) samtalte med ham, (ble han svært imponert og) sa: «(Å, Josef!) Sannelig, fra og med i dag har du myndighet og tillit hos oss (du er blitt tatt inn i landets regjering).»

55. He said: ‘Make me incharge of the treasures of the country. Surely, I am protective (of economic resources) and knowledgeable (in financial management).’

55. Yusuf (Joseph) said: ‘(If you really want me to accomplish a special assignment, then) appoint me as (a minister and trustee of) the treasures in the land (of Egypt). Indeed, I am well versed in resource management and resource protection and an expert (in financial management).’

55. Qala ijAAalnee AAala khazaini alardi innee hafeethun AAaleemun

55. Josef sa: «(Hvis du virkelig skal ha utført en spesiell oppgave av meg, så) ansett meg (som (en minister for og tillitsmann) over skattene i landet (Egypt). Sannelig, jeg er påpasselig og vet mye (om økonomisk forvaltning).»

56. That is how We established Yusuf (Joseph) in the land that he may settle wherever he wished. We confer Our mercy upon whomsoever We please. And We do not waste the reward of the virtuously excellent.

56. This is how We bestowed upon Yusuf (Joseph) the rule over the land (of Egypt so that) he could live therein wherever he desired. We honour with Our mercy whom We will, and We waste not the reward of the pious.

56. Wakathalika makanna liyoosufa fee alardi yatabawwao minha haythu yashao nuseebu birahmatina man nashao wala nudeeAAu ajra almuhsineena

56. Slik ga Vi Josef myndighet i landet (Egypt), slik at han kunne bosette seg i det hvor han enn ville. Vi forfremmer hvem Vi enn vil med Vår nåde, og Vi lar aldri de dydiges lønn gå tapt.

57. اور یقیناً آخرت کا اجر ان لوگوں کے لئے بہتر ہے جو ایمان لائے اور روشِ تقوٰی پر گامزن رہےo

57. And the reward of the Hereafter is even better for those who believe and are God-conscious.

57. And certainly, the reward of the Hereafter is of greater value for those who believe and tread the path of Godwariness.

57. Walaajru alakhirati khayrun lillatheena amanoo wakanoo yattaqoona

57. Og i sannhet, det hinsidiges lønn er bedre for dem som antar troen og holder seg vandrende på gudfryktighetens sti.

57. और यक़ीनन आख़िरत का अज्र उन लोगों के लिए बेहतर है जो ईमान लाए और रविशे तक़्वा पर गामज़न रहे।

৫৭. আর অবশ্যই পরকালের প্রতিদান সেসব লোকদের জন্যে উত্তম যারা ঈমান আনয়ন করে এবং খোদাভীতির পথে পদার্পণকারী।

58. اور (قحط کے زمانہ میں) یوسف (علیہ السلام) کے بھائی (غلہ لینے کے لئے مصر) آئے تو ان کے پاس حاضر ہوئے پس یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے انہیں پہچان لیا اور وہ انہیں نہ پہچان سکےo

58. (During the days of famine) Yusuf’s brothers came (to Egypt) and entered his presence. And he recognised them; however, they did not recognise him.

58. (During the days of famine) Yusuf’s (Joseph’s) brothers came (to Egypt to procure grain) and came to him. So Yusuf (Joseph) recognized them, but they could not recognize him.

58. Wajaa ikhwatu yoosufa fadakhaloo AAalayhi faAAarafahum wahum lahu munkiroona

58. Og så (under uårets tid) kom Josefs brødre (til Egypt for å skaffe seg korn), og de møtte opp hos ham. Josef kjente dem igjen, men de kjente ikke ham igjen.

59. When he had provided them with their supplies, he said: ‘Bring me your (half) brother from your father. Do you not see that I give full measure, and I am the best of hosts?

59. And when Yusuf (Joseph) had furnished them with their provisions (supplies and material), he said: ‘Bring me (Benjamin) your brother on the father’s side. Do you not see (how) full I measure and I am the best host (too)?

59. Walamma jahhazahum bijahazihim qala itoonee biakhin lakum min abeekum ala tarawna annee oofee alkayla waana khayru almunzileena

59. Og da Josef hadde utstyrt dem med deres forsyninger (og materiell), sa han: «Bring meg deres bror fra farssiden (Benjamin), ser dere da ikke at jeg gir fullt mål, og at jeg er den beste verten?

60. پس اگر تم اسے میرے پاس نہ لائے تو (آئندہ) تمہارے لئے میرے پاس (غلہ کا) کوئی پیمانہ نہ ہوگا اور نہ (ہی) تم میرے قریب آسکو گےo

60. But if you do not bring him to me, there shall be no ration for you with me (in the future), nor shall you approach me (ever again).’

60. So if you do not bring him to me, then (in the future) there will not be any measure (of grain) with me for you, nor will you be able to approach me.’

60. Fain lam tatoonee bihi fala kayla lakum AAindee wala taqrabooni

60. Hvis dere ikke bringer ham til meg, så vil det ikke være noen tilmåling (tilmålt del av korn) hos meg for dere, og ei heller vil dere kunne komme nær meg.»

61. وہ بولے: ہم اس کے بھیجنے سے متعلق اس کے باپ سے ضرور تقاضا کریں گے اور ہم یقیناً (ایسا) کریں گےo

61. They said: ‘We will try to persuade his father to send him. And we are surely going to do (it).’

61. They said: ‘We will solicit his father in connection with sending him and we will certainly do (it).’

61. Qaloo sanurawidu AAanhu abahu wainna lafaAAiloona

61. De sa: «Vi skal be faren hans om å sende ham, og vi skal i sannhet gjøre det.»

61. वोह बोले: हम उसके भेजने से मु-त-अ़ल्लिक़ उसके बाप से ज़रूर तक़ाज़ा करेंगे और हम यक़ीनन (ऐसा) करेंगे।

৬১. তারা বললো, ‘আমরা তাকে পাঠানোর ব্যাপারে তার পিতাকে রাজি করাবো। আর আমরা অবশ্যই (এমনটি) করবো।’

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

62. He said to his servants: ‘Put their money (or traded goods back) into their saddlebags; perhaps they will recognise them when they return to their family. Hopefully, they will come back (again).’

62. And Yusuf (Joseph) said to his servants: ‘Put their money (which they paid for grain back) into their sacks so that when they return to their family, they may identify it (that the money is back). It is likely that they may come again (for the very same reason).’

62. Waqala lifityanihi ijAAaloo bidaAAatahum fee rihalihim laAAallahum yaAArifoonaha itha inqalaboo ila ahlihim laAAallahum yarjiAAoona

62. Og Josef sa til sine tjenere: «Legg summen (som de betalte for kornet, tilbake) i sekkene deres, slik at når de vender tilbake til sin familie, så gjenkjenner de den (at summen ble med hjem igjen); kanskje det vil få dem til å komme tilbake (i samme hensikt).»

63. So, when they returned to their father, they said: ‘Our father! We have been denied the (further) measure of corn. Send our brother along with us so we can obtain the measure (again). And we shall most surely be his (careful) guardians.’

63. So when they returned to their father, they said: ‘O our father, (further provision of) grain for us has been banned (except that Benjamin accompanies us). So send our brother (Benjamin) with us (in order that) we may fetch (more) grain, and we shall certainly be his guards.’

63. Falamma rajaAAoo ila abeehim qaloo ya abana muniAAa minna alkaylu faarsil maAAana akhana naktal wainna lahu lahafithoona

63. Da de kom tilbake til faren sin, sa de: «Å, vår far! Tilmåling (av korn) er blitt nektet oss (i kommende tid så sant ikke Benjamin blir med oss)! Send med oss broren vår (Benjamin), (slik at) vi kan få tilmålt (mer) korn, og vi vil i sannhet være hans voktere.»

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

64. He said: ‘Should I entrust you with him, just as I entrusted you with his brother (Joseph)? Yet Allah is the Best Protector. And He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.’
